Extreme global poverty rates have been reduced significantly over the last decades. While China had a large share in accomplishing this remarkable achievement, there are millions more who still live in poverty, plus many people risk slipping back into poverty. Poverty is more than the lack of income and resources. It includes hunger and malnutrition, limited access to education and basic social services, social discrimination and exclusion as well as the lack of participation. In present China the rural-urban divide and inequalities remain high. As China is heading towards a moderately prosperous society the Amity Foundation is working against all forms of poverty, including ecumenically sharing of resources and alleviating poverty globally.
