Relief for Filipinos affected by Super-Typhoon

On 3 October 2018, the Government of Hong Kong has approved a grant to provide emergency relief to typhoon victims in the Philippines. Relief goods will include bottled water, rice, assorted canned food and instant noodles worth of HK$548,000. The supplies that were approved under the fast track mechanism will benefit typhoon victims in Benguet Province (Region I). The target is to serve a total of 2,300 families and bring life saving support and alleviate present burdens.

On 15 September 2018, Typhoon Ompong (known internationally as Mangkhut) hit the northern part of the Philippines, causing flash floods, storms and landslides. Latest situation reports state that more than 2,600,000 people were affected by the typhoon. Damages and losses of infrastructure and and the agriculture sector is estimated to be around USD 621 million.
