Love in Wheelchairs project launched in Huai'an

Brian Funk, team leader of Joni and Friends, is introducing Joni's book during a wheelchair project with Amity in 2014

On May 24, the Amity Foundation and Joni and Friends launched its 'Love in Wheelchairs' project with churches of Huai'an City in Jiangsu province. Pastors, government officials and representatives of Amity and Joni and Friends attended the launching ceremony for the wheelchair distribution project.

Zhu Xiaobo, the deputy mayor of Huai'an, expressed his cordial gratitude in the name of the city government to the Amity Foundation and Joni and Friends. Brian Funk, team leader of Joni and Friends, shared the story of Joni. Joni was paralyzed at the age of 17 due to an accident. After years of depression and her final recovery, she founded Joni and Friends.

'Love in Wheelchairs' ministry has the purpose to support people with reduced mobility and give them hope. Gu Chuanyong, deputy chairman of the Amity Foundation, pointed out that the Amity Foundation and Joni and Friends helped to distribute over 1531 wheelchairs in Jiangsu province. An amount of 814 wheelchairs have been already donated to Huai’an city during the last three years. Furthermore, Amity and Joni and Friends are striving to build up the capacity of church communities to organize their own diaconal work and ministry for the disabled.
