On July 23, the launching ceremony of the Suning Amity 2019 Football 1+1 Camp took place in Nanjing. The famous former goalkeeper from Inter Milan, Júlio César, joined the event as a surprise guest. The camp targets children from rural areas and migrant background with the aim to empower them and foster their future personal development through football.
He Wen, Deputy General Secretary of the Amity Foundation, welcomed the dignitary guests, trainers and students. He pointed out the 10 year-long cooperation between Suning and the Amity Foundation in CSR and social development. At the opening ceremony, Inter Milan's five-time champion, goalkeeper Júlio César, surprised the participating teenagers. When he played a friendly match with the enthralled kids, the atmosphere climaxed. After the ceremony, 25 young players continued to participate in a football camp enjoying their summer vacation.
The "Football 1+1" project is a charity project jointly initiated by the Amity Foundation and Suning in 2016. For four years, the "Football 1+1" project worked with 30 rural and migrant children's schools, providing football teaching assistance. By the end of 2018, a total of 7,220 sets of football training equipment has been given out, 663 football coaches were trained and 381 football games were organized. The number of indirect beneficiaries reached more than 70,000. The camps provide professional football training and support, narrow the educational gap and strengthen the self-confidence of the participants who come from difficult educational, rural or migrant backgrounds.
