Blizzard relief and rescue mission in Qinghai

Heavy snowstorms and blizzards have slammed the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai province since December 2018. During the Chinese New Year, beginning in February, continuous snowfall worsened the situation and decimated livestock. On the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau animal husbandry is a major revenue and livelihood source for the Tibetan locals, who are 98% of the region's population.

The Amity Foundation forwarded 500,000 Yuan donations to the Snowland Great Rivers Environmental Protection Association (SGR), providing hay to locals to safe their livestock and livelihood. Additionally, locals will use some hay to feed wildlife animals and hopefully support the survival of some of them. Today, on February 22, Amity's disaster relief staff departed to Yushu Autonomous Prefecture to asses the current situation and ongoing relief work.
