On 4th and 5th of December, Amity organized “The 5th Amity International Conference on Senior Service” in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The conference, co-organized by the Shenzen Aging Development Foundation, attracted almost 400 professionals from the sector and related government departments. Speakers came from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, USA and Japan.
The annual conference sets standards in the fields of elderly care, medical care and social work in China and aims to improve social organizations, health care institutions and businesses. Deputy Director of the Provincial Civil Affairs Department Sha Weiwei, emphasized the need for the development of comprehensive and high standard elderly services. He stated the fact that China is the world's only country whose elderly population exceeds 200 million and Jiangsu is the province with the fastest aging population in China.
Before the conference the workshop “Amity elderly service practical techniques training” was organized to exchange the latest information and best practices on senior services, in particular on dementia. The workshop was attended by 70 trainees.
