Made-in-China Bibles for the 2008 Olympics

Mr. Ye Xiaowen toasts Rev. Miller MilloySpeaking at the celebration of the printing of the 50 millionth bible by the Amity Printing Company (APC), Mr. Ye Xiaowen, Director of State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA) announced that Bibles printed at APC will be made available at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He underscored what Rev. Cao Shengjie, President of China Christian Council (CCC), said in her speech earlier, that the Olympics is a great opportunity for sharing between Chinese Christians and Christians around the world. The TSPM/CCC is preparing to provide free Bibles and church services during the games to participants.

Well on the way to supporting 10,000 more orphans

orphan project volunteers with the general secretaryAction e 10,000 was officially launched on 17 November by the Amity Foundation and a group of volunteers. Action e 10,000 is an effort to use the internet as a tool to make more people aware of the situation of rural orphans in China and to raise funds for their support. Almost 6000 orphans have profited from Amity’s work since 2002. The concrete aim of Action e 10,000 is to provide support for an additional 10,000 orphans in the Chinese countryside.

Printing of the 50 millionth Bible to be celebrated

The Amity Foundation is celebrating the production of 50 million Bibles by the Amity Printing Company (APC). The celebration will be held in Nanjing on 8 December to commemorate this landmark of Bible printing in China. Representatives of churches in China, the United Bible Societies, ecumenical partners and representatives of government departments will attend the event.
