The Amity Foundation was the first faith-based NGO in China contributing to the development of China’s Reform and Opening-up. The Amity Foundation is an independent Chinese Civil Society Organization that was created on the initiative of Christian leaders in 1985 supporting social development in China.

Amity Logo engraved in stone at Amity entrance in Nanjing In the last 30 years, the emancipation of minds and endorsement of Reform and Opening-up has given enormous impetus to economic development in China, and provided conditions for the development of social undertakings. On this historical basis, Amity emerged in response to the times. Therefore, many of Amity’s project areas have become experimental bases for local, social and economic development.

Our History

Over the last decades, it has grown from an unknown voluntary organization with only three staff members into a social organization with a staff of nearly a hundred. Amity project distribution has spread from Jiangsu Province during its early years to regions all over China.
