On November 21, 2017, Sean Stein Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai visited the Amity Foundation. General Secretary Mr. Qiu introduced Amity's history and told the visitors about the current work and the latest developments in Amity and within the sector.
The first Amity-Heren International Philanthropy Forum was held in Nanjing on November 7 to 8. More than 50 practitioners and scholars from seven countries and regions presented, discussed and exchanged ideas on China's advancing public welfare and charity sector.
On October 28, the Amity Foundation co-hosted a feast for senior citizens to advocate and foster a spirit of dedication, friendship and volunteering for the elderly. In addition, the 'Project to Care for Thousands of Seniors in Need' was launched.
On October 13, 2017, the China Foundation Center (CFC) and the United Nations Development Program China (UNDP) organized an international conference in Geneva, launching the “Philanthropy for Sustainable Development in China” report in China.
The Amity Foundation provided emergency relief to households in Sri Lanka from September 14 to 26. The disaster relief project ensures affected people receive effective humanitarian assistance, protecting them from further hazards caused by disasters, thus maintaining their dignity.
