Horn of Africa Drought 2017

After two consecutive years of drought in Eastern and Southern Ethiopia, famine was looming again in 2017. The Amity Foundation has been responding to the disaster with the local partner Lutheran World Service (LWS) Ethiopia. For the last months, the Amity Foundation has been providing life saving measures for tackling water shortage and hygiene problems in seriously affected regions in Fafan Zone of Somali Regional State. People at the Horn of Africa are still in need for continued support for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Amity launches ‘Living Water’ for drought victims in Ethiopia

In responds to the humanitarian crisis in Africa’s drought affected regions, the Amity Foundation has launched its so far largest humanitarian aid project in Africa. The commencement ceremony of the Living Water project was held in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa on 20th July, 2017.

The Hong Kong Government announced a grand of HKD 4.64 million to the Amity Foundation to provide life-saving water trucking, purification materials and hygiene kits for people affected by the drought in Ethiopia.
