Position: Director of Amity International Liaison Office in Geneva
Be responsible for the operation of the Amity International Liaison Office in Geneva to meet the requirements of the headquarters of the Amity Foundation in networking with the international community, fulfilling its role in Special Consultative Status with UNECOSOC and bridging advocacy and practice in Amity’s work in different regions and fields.
To represent the Amity Foundation in Geneva;
To participate actively in UNOG events and to become engaged in the international discourse on important themes of global and humanitarian concern
To identify gaps in knowledge among the international community about China or Chinese civil society, and to build up mutual understanding through sharing and exchange activities
To communicate and cooperate with other branches of the Amity Foundation in implementing Amity’s strategies in organizational and project development;
To facilitate communication and the learning process in connecting international discourse and practice to Amity’s work on the ground;
To effectively manage human resources and operational costs based on the budget approved by the headquarters;
To implement the strategic plan for the liaison office based on the integrated plans of the Amity headquarters;
To provide regular and prompt reports to the headquarters;
Other tasks as may be required by the headquarters.
High degree of fluency in Chinese and English, with functional French or German preferred.
Good knowledge about China, Chinese civil society and Christianity.
Good understanding and close identification with Amity Foundation, experience in working, volunteering or cooperating with Amity preferred.
Pleasant personality, good communication and networking skills with cultural and contextual sensibility.
Evidenced competence both in strategic thinking and implementation.
Master’s degree or above in development, international relations, China studies, civil society, social/public policy, or sociology preferred.
Office Location: Ecumenical Center, Route de Ferney 150, 1211 Geneva
Range of salary: CHF 6,000-8,000
Starting date: 1 March 2017

The Amity Foundation is an independent Chinese social development organization that was created in 1985 on the initiative of Chinese Christians. The aim is to promote education, health, community development, social service and civil society building from China’s coastal provinces in the east to the minority areas of the west. The Amity Foundation is one of the earliest established home grown NGOs in China following China’s reform and opening-up to the outside world. The Amity Foundation has Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC. Amity International Liaison Office was opened in March 2016.
