The 5th Walk for Living Water is coming. It will be held on Saturday, 14 March 2015, at SKH Tsang Shiu Tim Secondary School in Shatin, Hong Kong. This is going to be a special year, as 2015 is also the 30th Anniversary of Amity! Thank you for your support and generous donations to Amity’s Walk for Living Water in the past. This year there are many prizes to win: Disneyland tickets, book coupons, trophies, excursions to Tai Tam Tuk Eco Education Centre or the participation at Amity's Journey of Living Water, a 5-day exposure trip to Amity's projects in Mainland China.
The focus of the 2015 Walk for Living Water will be 'Water and Sustainable Development', the theme chosen by the United Nation for the World Water Day. It embodies the mission for tangible action to help water-deprived people and the raising of awareness for the sustainable future of the next generation.
In China, the uneven water distribution, climatic change, rapid urban development, and pollution have resulted in many remote rural communities be deprived of clean drinking water. The 2015 Walk will be raising funds for such pockets of rural areas in the Mainland. Your donations will go a long way to improve health, agricultural production, environmental conservation and the sustainability of the ecosystems there.
In 2009, Amity launched the 'Living Water Campaign' in Hong Kong, and started the Walk for Living Water in 2011. Since then, we have built water systems in 8 water-deprived villages, and purification water facilities, including solar energy water heater showers, for Mengjiao Township Primary School in Yunnan Province, benefiting more than 7,000 villagers, students and teachers.
